A/Prof Catherine Sinclair is a dual fellowship trained neck & thyroid surgeon & laryngologist.
Areas of special interest with respect to neck & thyroid include thyroid nodule/cancer surgery, non-surgical treatment of thyroid nodules using radiofrequency & ethanol ablation, laryngeal nerve monitoring & voice preservation during thyroid surgery, & salivary gland surgery (parotid, submandibular).
A/Prof Sinclair is the leading expert in Australia for non-surgical treatment of thyroid nodules & introduced the technique of thyroid radiofrequency ablation to Australia in 2021 after having worked at Mount Sinai in New York for over a decade. Whilst in New York, she also pioneered a novel continuous laryngeal nerve monitoring technique for voice preservation during thyroid surgeries. With regards to laryngology, A/Prof Sinclair works at the Melbourne Voice Analysis Centre & has special interest and surgical expertise in professional voice, neurolaryngology & the laryngeal adductor reflex
