. The tattoo is targeted by specific wavelengths of light that break up the ink. Over time the body metabolises the ink particles and they fade from the skin. Bright modern ink colours can be more difficult to remove than traditional black tones. Removal takes place over a number of sessions depending on how big the tattoo is and where it is placed on the body. After laser treatment there can be some redness and minor blistering.
