about Dr Nathan Creber
Dr. Nathan Creber is an accomplished Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist with specific qualification in otology and skull base surgery. He has a particular interest in the areas of hearing implants and cochlear surgery.
Dr. Creber began his academic journey at the University of Sydney, where he completed a Bachelor of Advanced Science (BAdvSci) in 2006 with first-class honors, majoring in anatomy and histology. His deep interest in medical research lead him to work as a scientist at the Brain and Mind Research Institute at Sydney University, while pursuing his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS), which he completed in 2010.
Furthering his keen interest in public health and ear disease, Dr. Creber earned a Master of Public Health (MPH) in 2011 and a Master of Surgery (MS) in 2014, both from the University of Sydney. His research in these years focused on advancing medical and surgical understanding of anatomy and population medicine.
In 2019, Dr. Creber completed his PhD at the University of Melbourne, with his doctoral research centered on cochlear implants, an area where he continues to make scientific contributions. His postdoctoral journey has been marked by extensive research in hearing preservation during cochlear implant surgery, hearing rehabilitation, and therapies for inner ear disorders.
Dr. Creber's commitment to medical education also saw him complete a Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (PGCertMEdEd) at Cambridge University in 2023. Through teaching and mentorship he aims to inspire the next generation of surgeons and medical professionals.
Dr. Creber has been the recipient of several prestigious fellowships, including the Academic Surgeon Scientist Fellowship in 2023, focused on advanced training in hearing implant surgery and skull base surgery. His clinical expertise is complemented by ongoing research appointments at the Institute of Academic Surgery, the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, and the University of Melbourne.
A Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (FRACS), Dr. Creber is also an active member of the Australian Society of Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery (ASOHNS). His ongoing research interests include hearing protection, repair, and regeneration, with a special focus on innovative medical therapies and surgical techniques aimed at preserving and restoring hearing.
