The endocrine system consists of several glands (groups of cells), in different parts of the body, which discharge hormones directly into the bloodstream. Hormones have many different important functions and ways of acting on organs of the body. Paediatric Endocrinology involves the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions associated with hormones in children. Paediatric Endocrinologists diagnose & treat diseases & conditions in children associated to the endocrine system, such as diabetes, growth disorders, sexual development and disorders of the endocrine glands (thyroid, parathyroid, etc).
