Dr Zo Williams

Dr Williams is a Specialist Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon operating and consulting at Newcastle Private Hospital and Lake Macquarie Private Hospital. He is the Director of Vascular Surgery at John Hunter Hospital and brings experience in new, minimally invasive techniques across the full spectrum of vascular diseases.

Dr Williams grew up in the Northern Rivers, in the regional north of New South Wales. He completed his Bachelor of Medicine at the University of Newcastle and spent his junior years at John Hunter Hospital while completing a Graduate Diploma in Applied Anatomy by Dissection at the University of New England. He has returned to Newcastle after extensive training in several high-volume centres in both Australia and New Zealand. Dr Williams was recently recruited into Harvard Universitys Surgical Leadership Program. He hopes to use his comprehensive experience to improve the delivery of vascular surgical care throughout the Hunter New England region.

SERVICES OFFERED:

• Peripheral Vascular Disease: PVD can cause claudication, rest pain and in the worst cases gangrene.
• Varicose Vein Surgery: Varicose veins can be complicated by eczema (itchiness), pain, thrombosis (clotting), bleeding and ulceration.
• Aortic Aneurysms: Aortic aneurysms are usually asymptomatic but can have catastrophic consequences if left untreated.
• Dialysis & Vascular Access Procedures: Creation of fistulae and other types of vascular access for dialysis and delivery of medications.
• Carotid Disease: Carotid disease is often asymptomatic but can be complicated by stroke or TIA.
• Minimally Invasive Surgery: Use of modern techniques and technology to achieve excellent results with minimal risks to treat all the above.
