A/Prof John Cunningham OAM

Mr John Cunningham OAM is an Australian-trained orthopaedic surgeon practising in Melbourne. He specialises in the treatment of all spinal disorders. Whatever your spinal condition, from the neck to the lower back, he can provide open and honest advice about the likely cause of your condition and treatment options, from non-surgical and minimally invasive techniques to more traditional open surgery when appropriate. He encourages patients to explore a range of health care avenues.

John began his orthopaedic training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons in 2005, completing it in 2008. In 2009 he completed a 12-month spine surgery fellowship with both neurosurgeons and orthopaedic surgeons at Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary, Canada. The following year he was granted the Rowan Nicks ANZ Fellowship and completed another spine surgery fellowship with Mr Peter Robertson, as well as a Master of Clinical Epidemiology. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, where he treats elective spine patients as well as traumatic spinal injuries and general orthopaedic trauma.
