Associate Professor Sumit Raniga is an award winning, internationally recognised subspecialist Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon. Founder and Director of the Macquarie University Translational Orthopaedic Research Lab (www.mqtorlab.com.au).
Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (FRACS) and a subspecialist Orthopaedic Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon with three years of dedicated clinical and research fellowships in world renowned centres of excellence. Mentored by preeminent Professors Matthias Zumstein (Bern, Switzerland), George Athwal (Ontario, Canada), Graham King (Ontario, Canada), and Des Bokor (Sydney, Australia).
The first and only Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons to be awarded the prestigious Charles S. Neer Award for research in the field of shoulder surgery by the American Shoulder and Elbow Society (ASES) in 2016. Inaugural recipient of the prestigious Shoulder and Elbow Society of Australia's (SESA) and ASES North American Travelling Fellowship Award for 2024. Author of numerous peer reviewed research publications and textbook chapters.
