He is currently a clinical Associate Professor with the Australian National University, & a leading member of the Canberra Brain Cancer Collaborative.

A/Prof Mews' neurosurgical training was obtained in Auckland NZ, Canberra ACT, & St George Hospital in Sydney NSW. In Auckland he also completed his Masters degree in medical science research. After receiving the FRACS in Neurosurgery, he relocated to Bristol UK for further subspecialty training in vascular & skull-base surgery & deep brain stimulation (DBS).
