about Norwest Private Hospital Cardiac Services

Norwest Private Hospital is a leading hospital in keyhole cardiology surgery and has a well established Transcatheter Aortc Valve Implantation (TAVI) programme and now a programme for the repair of mitral valve regurgitation with the MitraClip

Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation (TAVI) is a new and innovative approach to the treatment of severe aortic stenosis when patients are considered high risk for open heart surgery.

The multi-disciplinary heart team at Norwest Private led by Dr Peter Fahmy, Interventional & Structural Cardiologist will conduct a thorough evaluation of the patient status and make the final treatment decision for either surgical AVR (SAVR) or TAVI, which is a less invasive treatment compared to surgery. The decision will be made based on patient risk for surgery and suitability.

Transcatheter Mitral Valve Repair (TMVR) is a minimally invasive procedure that may be an option for patients who are at high risk for surgery. A clip is implanted onto the centre of the mitral valve to reduce mitral regurgitation.

To find out more or arrange an appointment for your patient, please contact Dr Peter Fahmy's rooms on 02 4782 2798 or visit drpeterfahmy.com.au

Note to Referrers:
Patients referred to the TAVI and TMVR at Norwest programme will remain under the care of the referring doctor.
