about Dr David Barrett
Dr David Barrett obtained a Bachelor of Science (First-class Honours), and MBBS (with Honours) at the University of Sydney. He qualified as an Interventional Cardiologist following his Interventional Fellowship at St George Hospital, Sydney. He is a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (FRACP). Dr Barrett has maintained his appointment with the Prince of Wales Hospital / Eastern Heart Clinic where he continues to perform the more complicated interventional procedures including angioplasty (stent insertions).
Dr Barrett has been involved in the Hastings Macleay Area for several years including as a consultant Cardiologist since 2020. He looks forward to continuing to contribute his expertise to the local community and its surrounds. Dr Barrett is associated with the Port Macquarie Rural Medical School and conducts regular lectures and tutorials for local medical students in clinical cardiology and ECG interpretation.
Dr Barretts practice incorporates the full range of Cardiology services including Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Testing, Arrhythmia management, Pacemaker clinics, Heart Failure management and management of Ischaemic Heart Disease. He has admitting rights to the Port Macquarie Private Hospital and contributes to regular Cardiology Department meetings at the Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
