We pride ourselves on providing timely, individualised, and high-quality evidence-based patient care for people with arthritis, autoimmune disease and musculoskeletal conditions.

We work with patients to understand their values and preferences for care, and to ensure they have a good understanding of their health. Our shared decision-making approach to treatment ensures patients receive the care that best suits them. We closely follow up our patients progress to provide ongoing support.

We work collaboratively with GPs, other specialists and allied health practitioners.
We are very happy to speak with GPs about their patients at any time, including providing advice before considering a rheumatology review.

We can fast-track urgent referrals - please indicate on the referral or call the practice.

We endeavour to rapidly see inflammatory conditions (e.g. inflammatory arthritis) that should be treated as early as possible for the best outcomes.

Dr. Adam Rischin
Dr Adam Rischin is a consultant rheumatologist working in private practice at Malvern Rheumatology, as well as public hospital appointments at The Alfred Hospital and Goulburn Valley Health. He is a Visiting Medical Officer at Cabrini Health. Adam graduated from Monash University with Honours before completing physician and specialist training at Alfred Health, Western Health, Peninsula Health and Cabrini Hospital. Adam was previously awarded the Ken Muirden Fellowship by Arthritis Australia to undertake further clinical and research training in the United Kingdom but was unable to attend due to the onset of the covid-19 pandemic. Adam enjoys providing education and supervision to medical students and junior doctors.

Adam has completed further training in point-of-care rheumatology ultrasound, completing a Certificate of Clinician Performed Ultrasound (CCPU). He likes to use ultrasound to further the clinical examination and enhance diagnosis, but mainly for educating patients about their condition.

Adam is passionate about all aspects of rheumatology and providing comprehensive care to his patients.

Dr. Rushab Shah
Dr Rushab Shah is a consultant rheumatologist at Malvern Rheumatology and has a public hospital appointment at The Alfred Hospital. Rushab completed his medical training at Flinders University in Adelaide before undertaking specialist training at the Alfred and St Vincents Hospitals in Melbourne. He has pursued further sub-specialty training with a clinical research fellowship at the University of Manchester and Manchester Foundation Trust Hospitals in the United Kingdom. This fellowship has led to subspecialty clinical and research experience in Raynaud's phenomenon, systemic sclerosis and autoimmune heart and lung disease.

Aside from his clinical appointments, Rushab has a keen interest in research and education. He has previously held teaching appointments with Flinders University and been involved with tutorial programs with the University of Melbourne. Additionally, Rushab has had the opportunity to present his research works at both national and international conferences.

Rushabs clinical interests extend to all facets of rheumatology, but he has a particular interest in systemic sclerosis, investigation and management of Raynauds phenomenon, and connective tissue disease related cardio-pulmonary disease.

Prof. Rachelle Buchbinder AO
Prof Rachelle Buchbinder is a consultant rheumatologist and clinical epidemiologist. As well as working clinically, she is a Professor (Distinguished) at Monash University where she heads the Musculoskeletal Health and Wiser Health Care Units in the School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine. She is a Visiting Medical Officer at Cabrini Health. She graduated from Monash University with Honours before completing her physician and specialist training at the Alfred and Prince Henrys Hospitals in Melbourne. She then did further specialist training and completed a Masters of Clinical Epidemiology in Toronto, Canada.

Rachelle has received numerous awards including being made an Officer of the Order of Australia (AO) in 2020 for services to epidemiology and rheumatology and the Australian Rheumatology Association Distinguished Service Medal in 2023.

She is Chair of the Australian living guidelines for the treatment of inflammatory arthritis and her research primarily seeks to improve care and outcomes for people with arthritis and musculoskeletal conditions. She brings similar values to caring for her patients.
