Dr Bill Johnston

Dr. Bill Johnston is a highly experienced ENT specialist with over two decades of expertise in both private and public ENT practice. Having served as a Visiting Medical Officer (VMO) at Hornsby Ku Ring Gai District Hospital since 2001, Dr. Johnston recently shifted his private consulting practice from Hornsby to Chatswood ENT. He continues to perform surgeries at Sydney Adventist Hospital and Chatswood Private Hospital, and has expanded his practice to Port Macquarie, where he consults privately at Port Macquarie ENT and sees public patients at Port Macquarie Base Hospital.
Dr. Johnston has held numerous leadership roles, including currently serving as the Head of Department at Sydney Adventist Hospital, where he has been a VMO since 2009. His commitment to patient care and surgical excellence has earned him recognition throughout his career.
Dr. Johnston completed his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at the University of New South Wales, graduating in 1991. His early clinical training included internships and residency at Royal North Shore Hospital, followed by two years as a General Surgical Registrar at Gosford Hospital.
In 1997, Dr. Johnston embarked on his specialized otolaryngology training, with rotations at Gosford Hospital, Sydney Hospital, Concord Repatriation Hospital, and The Childrens Hospital at Westmead. His final year of training was completed at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in 2000. He subsequently pursued a Fellowship in Rhinology, working under the mentorship of Professor Raymond Sacks and Dr. Martin Forer, which laid the foundation for his entry into full-time private practice in 2002.
Dr. Johnstons clinical interests span a wide spectrum of general ENT conditions. His specific areas of expertise include the treatment of paediatric snoring, airway disturbances, and paediatric allergic airway disease. In adult patients, his focus is on managing snoring, chronic nasal obstruction, and nasal allergy treatment.
Due to changes in availability, Dr Bill Johnston no longer performs tonsillectomies and no longer is able to offer surgery to patients in the public system in the Sydney area. With a long-standing commitment to improving patient outcomes and advancing ENT care, Dr. Johnston continues to be a highly regarded figure in his field, serving both the Sydney and Port Macquarie communities.
