Dr Kristian Prados

Dr Kristian Lee Prados is a general adult and Interventional Cardiologist having undergone specialist training in Interventional Cardiology in Sydney completed in 2011. He has been a Consultant Cardiologist and Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians since 2010. He is a senior Cardiologist who has been practising in Port Macquarie since 2012. He continues to be involved in local teaching and research projects and is a Conjoint Lecturer at the University of New South Wales.

Dr Prados is the Director of the PMBH Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory. He was instrumental in the design and careful planning of the PMBH Cath Lab which opened in 2015 and began interventional services in 2016. This regional Cath Lab brings to the local community specialised interventional services such as diagnostic coronary angiograms (to diagnose blocked coronary arteries), angioplasty (balloons and stents to open blocked coronary arteries), right heart studies (to diagnose complex heart and lung conditions), insertion of implantable loop recorders and several other specialised invasive procedures. Dr Prados is experienced in all aspects of Cardiology care including Echocardiography, Exercise Stress Testing, management of Heart Failure, management of Arrhythmias and Pacemaker testing. He holds admitting rights to the Port Macquarie Base Hospital and the Port Macquarie Private Hospital. He is part of the local group of cardiologists that cover 24/7 on-call for the Mid North Coast Area Health Service.
